Looking for a day dash to Mount Kenya? Look no further if you dare. Our Teleki Ultra upsweep will see you through the most challenging ascent up the famous Teleki Valley, Mackinders Camp, Lewis Tarn, Austrian Hut, Lewis Glacier, and lastly, point Lenana. Teleki Valley and the ascent past the ranger’s camp are notable challenges on this ascent that will require preparation to see you through.
The hike starts at the Bandas at Met Station and quickly proceeds through the short bamboo and forest towards the moorlands. It then proceeds towards Teleki Valley and across the river to Mackinders Camp, which marks the first phase of this ascent. Past Mackinders camp, we proceed to the notoriously steep ascent towards Austrian Hut, which marks the second phase. The last phase will be up the rocky section via the iron cable towards Point Lenana.
The mountain never moves, it’s you who does. Keep moving. If you can’t sit atop the rocks at Point Lenana, touch the Lewis Glacier.
